good tool
is a little tricky to learn to use if not using the supplied wire. the instructions state 2-4" from plug boot and its not kidding. that being said if you have an unobstructed free air path to boot you will get a stable and accurate reading. doesnt appear to have a replaceable battery but i dont think this is a real issue

Terrific Product
I purchased this to assist with chainsaw carburetor adjustment. It is dirt simple to use and provides immediate engine speed readings. It allows one to adjust the idle and full-throttle speeds to the manufacturer's specifications.

Sooo easy to use and definitely a must if you aren’t a full-time repair person or setting up engines for a living. This allows a DIY person to affordably and effectively tune a small engine. The cost is much less than rebuilding or replacing a poorly tuned power head.

I have used several small engine tachometers and they never keep up with a chainsaw engine when it revs, they all lag seconds behind the engine. This one keeps up in a fraction of a second and comes with a clip to easily attack to the ignition wire. highly recommend this one
