Lubricating Your Chainsaw
Reference your owner's manual before working on your chainsaw. Each chainsaw is going to operate a little differently, and the type of oil you use will depend on the weather conditions and the type of chainsaw.
Let's Get Started
- Clean the chainsaw: Before lubricating, make sure the chainsaw is clean and free of sawdust or debris. Use a brush or cloth to clean the chain and bar.
- Locate the oil reservoir: On most chainsaws, the oil reservoir is located near the base of the chainsaw. Check your chainsaw’s manual to locate it if you are not sure. (Ex. Below)
- Fill the oil reservoir: Use a chainsaw bar and chain oil specifically designed for chainsaws. Fill the reservoir to the recommended level, which can usually be found in your chainsaw's manual.
- Turn the chainsaw on: This will help the oil circulate and reach all the necessary parts of the chain and bar.
That's It!
If you own a grease gun, now would be the perfect time to grease your chainsaw.
